Natural turquoise is porous and softer than many stones, so much of what is sold is stabilised to harden it for everyday wear. We describe each batch honestly. If a piece is stabilised we say so, and we never pass off dyed howlite or reconstituted stone as natural firoza.
Turquoise dislikes water, perfume, sweat and household chemicals, which can dull its surface over time. Put the bracelet on after applying scent or lotion, take it off before bathing or swimming, and wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Stored away from harder stones, it keeps its colour well.
